Structured Cabling and Intelligent Infrastructure

The trend of electronics installation has been influencing our everyday life at both, work and home, in a substantial manner for several years. What seemed to be an unachievable goal in the past has become a standard for many times only slightly increased costs and a high added value.

The target is not to replace a man with a robot that would control and dictate the living conditions at home but to make the functioning of household technical equipment easier and more effective, all that for the benefit of us as users.

Undeniable advantages:

  • It improves the comfort of living; it takes over the tasks related to the set-up of effective lighting, sun control/shading (standard or roller blinds), heating and cooling, electronic security of buildings or the possibility of property control and monitoring
  • It optimises energy consumption; households are thus able to save energy, mostly in the form of electric and heating energies. The system turns the heating system on when there are people present in an apartment and once the front door is locked from outside, it reduces the temperature and interrupts water heating. It automatically adjusts the intensity of lighting to its need and is able to switch appliances on and off at a specific time. Energy savings gained thanks to this equipment are as high as 30% of costs. Apart from the above stated, these devices also provide information on utility and energy consumption
  • It monitors changes in our moods; by creating different light scenes - not only by dimming but also by changing lighting colours or pre-programmed scenes of interior lighting for different occasions or changes in the weather or current requirements concerning the use of space
  • It is modular; even after the installation, most of the systems offer a wide range of potential adjustment or extension.

Our company has worked with ABB, Bticino and Inels systems.

Structured Cabling

It is a cabling system formed by a group of metallic and optical elements, which is of a defined structure and is able to transmit digital and analogue signals. Structured cabling systems are classified based on transmission speed and transmitted band width as follows:

  • Category 5e – band width of 100 MHz. This category is still the most frequently used category in the field of structured cabling.
  • Category 6 – Band width of 250MHz, which is more than a doubled 5E category band width. An increased quality of components with a wider band width ensures highly reliable Gigabit Ethernet (1 Gb/s) transmission.
  • Category 6A – Created for good-quality transmission of 10GBase-T protocols to all the distances (10 Gb/s speed) standard in metallic cabling. Unlike category 6, the components of category 6A work with a double band width – i.e. 500 MHz.
  • Category 7 - The category mentioned for the first time in 1997; it, however, was approved as late as in 2002 and only for cabling. The working frequency of category 7 is currently 600 MHz.
